Mark Pocklington - some brief words
8th Jan 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Friday 24th May Mark Pocklington passed away after a short illness. Mark was a valued member of the club for many years, captain of the first team and represented the county. He will be sorely missed. Our condolences go to Heather, Ben and Zoe and hope they get comfort from our love and thoughts.

The club was deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Mark Pocklington. Pocko captained and was a pivotal player in the highly successful men's first team of the early 80's that became the first Lincolnshire club to play in the east premier league and reach the 3rd round of the national HA cup. Playing in midfield and defence he was an outstanding tackler and one of the finest players to ever wear a Sutton shirt. He represented Lincolnshire at county level but also enjoyed social hockey playing for the Sunday Mallards team as well as the mixed team. Injury curtailed his first team playing career but latterly he continued to play for the clubs lower teams where he retained his competitive nature but was also a great source of advice and encouragement for the younger players. His funeral is on 24th June at 12.15 at Mintlyn Crematorium King's Lynn. Our condolences to Mark's wife Heather and children Ben and Zoe.
