Long Sutton Ladies 1sts headed to Dereham with a depleted team including a couple from the 2nds and only 11 players. Sutton started knowing this was going to be a hard match but this wasn't shown as Sutton proved themselves by performing exceptionally well against the opposition.

Sutton started the first half defending well as Dereham attacked and had a couple of breaks which Lorraine Wallis saved well, challenging the player and clearing the ball back out. Sutton also took their opportunities to attack pushing hard as debutant Jeorgia Carr and Laura Temple worked both the wings making good runs and playing good balls into the D. Great play by Walker covering back cleared the ball away from goal. Tania White and Helen Worth tackled well keeping the ball out the D. Unfortunately Sutton didn't get enough chances to take the lead in the first half but held their own at 0-0 by half time. Sutton took this and kept their heads up ready to push on in the second half.

As the second half started Dereham made chances in the D gaining a couple of short corners which were well run out and defended by Walker, Worth, Parr and White. Wallis made great saves, kicking the ball half way up the pitch to the forwards and from this Sutton kept the ball in the midfield as Ludlam, Greenacre and Leuty played some great balls down to the wingers and also dribbled to put pressure onto Dereham's defence. For a short spell Sutton attacked hard, playing the balls up to Ireland in the D who didn't manage to get a clean shot off on the reverse but fought hard trying to get the ball back. Sutton played through the middle until Dereham took another couple of short corners off Sutton but with the great keeping and defence Sutton kept them to a nil score. In the last couple of minutes of the game having the ball played well up the pitch it gave the forwards a chance and Ireland managed to get Sutton a short corner which gave Sutton a chance in the last minute, which unfortunately was not converted but got another short corner which finished the game that felt like a win at a 0-0 draw.  It was a great team performance which showed that Sutton deserved the point they have taken.
