Long Sutton finished the first half of the season with a tremendous team effort which unfortunately did not give them the result which they deserved. Pelicans took control early on with Sutton trying to play a long game which did not suit them. However after a couple of routine saves from Wallis, Sutton began to take a foothold on the game and began to control possession with sublime play from the forwards Woodhead, Ireland and Leuty. Midway through the half Sutton won a free hit just outside the Peli's D, which Hannah Greenacre took quickly passing the ball to 'Jinx' Walker who fired in to Ireland who turned and fired the ball past the stranded Pelis keeper. Sutton continued to control the half with slick passing from Mel Ludlam to Ireland on the left and Greenacre and Tania White down the right and the score remained 1-0 at half time.

With Robyn Gribble arriving at half time after a frantic drive from Bath, Sutton felt confident going into the second half. However with the added advantage of a coach, Peli's made some changes at half time and they got themselves back into the game with a deflected strike at a short corner. With decisions going against them, Sutton then found themselves 2-1 down after a counter attack from Peli's was finished superbly. Shortly after Sutton were harshly reduced to ten when Woodhead was sent off. However Sutton still had chances and when Woodhead was allowed back on she was inches away from connecting with a strike from Gribble, In the dying minutes Sutton were awarded a short corner and despite the whole team being urged forward they were unable to find an equaliser which they more than deserved.

Sutton certainly felt hard done by at the end of the game but they can take heart from this performance and will come back stronger after Christmas. This season is not over yet!

The man of the match award was shared between Charlie Leuty and Tania White but in truth could have gone to all.
