Long Sutton put in a strong performance but came away empty handed as Lowestoft took their goal chances.

This was always going to be a difficult fixture for Long Suton Ladies firsts ,and so it proved to be. Long Sutton started very well and dominated early exchanges but were unable to make any progress on the Lowestoft goal. Against the run of play after 13 minutes Lowestoft scored after a rather fortunate bounce in front of goal cleared defender Jess Hudson's stick to give the home side advantage. Sutton settled back into the game and matched Lowestoft but again the visitors were getting little luck on the day and Lowestoft extended the lead 7 minutes before half time following a short corner which was cleared in the first instance, however the breaking ball eventually found a Lowestoft player on the edge of the D who hammered the ball home. The second half continued to be fairly even but with Long Sutton penetrating the Lowestoft half more often and a goal increasingly looked on the cards. From one chance to peg the score back Laura Temple made good space but fired her shot wide of the in form Lowestoft goalkeeper but sadly the ball also just cleared past the post by a whisker. After which it was clearly not going to be Sutton's day. Lowestoft started to press and as a consequence edged the short corner count and with a degree of inevitability extended their lead to a comfortable 3 - 0. Long Sutton can take heart from the way they played and must take the same attitude and application in to the Saturdays home fixture against relegation battlers Dereham. Player of the match was Tania White who was outstanding throughout..
