Today's match saw Long Sutton ladies 1st XI play host to a Lincoln 2's team  that were still finding their feet in the division. After a win and two draws already this season, Sutton were eager to add to their point tally with a win!

Sutton dictated the tempo from the start and some outstanding passing and quick play in the middle of the pitch through Gemma Parr, Charlie Leuty and Sarah Walker saw an opportunity arise. With the ball finding Leanne Woodhead who calmly drew the keeper towards her to then slot the ball square for Fiona Gray to tap in to the back of the net to make it 1-0 Sutton. Sutton remained on top and chance after chance went begging but great positioning by Lisa Baker and Becky Kierman proved that another was on its way. Just before half time, great determination by Sarah Walker ensured that Sutton went into half time 2-0 up after nicely slotting the ball away past the Lincoln keeper.

After a great half time talk and words of inspiration, Sutton started as brightly as they finished maintaining a high tempo, quick, smart and clever play but more importantly producing a complete team performance. Rachael Gadsen, Sally Cade, Tania White and Jess Hudson remained solid and calm at the back contributing to the attacking play and never looking in danger defensively. Lorraine Wallis in the Sutton goal had minimal to do but on the occasions she was called upon just saw her set the forwards up for another opportunity. Continued work rate and effort through Louise Southgate, Hannah Greenacre and Fiona Gray on the Sutton flanks allowed great outlets and the second half saw a second goal from Fiona Gray, two from Becky Kierman, one from Leanne Woodhead and then the calmest of all flicks slotted away by Tania White.

An outstanding performance by all 14 players involved the ladies really showed what they are all more than capable of today and a great game and result to take in to next weeks local derby against Spalding.
