MATCH REPORT
LSHC Ladies Second v Skegness 1sts
Played Away on 19th October 2013An early start didn't show at the beginning of this match as Sutton's young stars took the game by the scruff of the neck and attacked Skegness from the first whistle. Sutton had the best of the early exchanges, but Skegness showed their experience and came back with some well worked moves from one of their younger players down their right flank, and could have gone ahead in the first half had the right connection been made.
It was all to play for in the second half and again Sutton came out all young guns blazing, the mid field worked hard feeding Emma Howell down the wing, who put in an impressive performance opening up the Skegness defence with her speed, and was unfortunate not have netted a goal herself or have one of her crosses converted into the Skegness goal. Skegness had there chances in the second half, but with another tireless run and cross into the danger area from young player Georgina Maplethorpe, the pace on the ball was too much for the Skegness defender who deflected it into her own net. Sutton went 1-0 up and Skegness came back with intent, this was a game of missed chances on both sides, but Sutton stood firm to take all three points. The young stars on display today would have made club legend Peggy Biggadike proud of her legacy at Long Sutton. A special mention has to go to the two young umpires who impressed.
