Sutton travelled to Colchester with the bare 11 on Saturday which proved costly and once again this was a game of two halves. Sutton started the first half at a leisurely pace and allowed Colchester time and space to dominate. Colchester racked up 6 goals before half time despite the great efforts of debutant goalkeeper Josh Thody who stepped up 6 leagues to make his first Prem B outing. The second half was quite simply amazing. Sutton came alive and dominated with Andy Shore spraying the ball all around the pitch and dominating in midfield. Josh Fyson pushed up higher, made some piercing runs and using the 'devils turn' opened up the Colchester defence on several occasions. Sisson worked tirelessly upfront and was only denied by some fine saves from the Colchester keeper. Sutton got on the score sheet as Whatling continued a smart run and pounced on the loose ball to slot home. Sutton were all over Colchester as skipper Harrison watched in amazement. Just where was this performance in the first half! Ben Shore made it 6-2 as he slotted one in off a defenders foot from a short corner. Colchester managed to score two more against the run of play as Sutton pushed on but tired. However, Sutton grabbed their consolation 3rd from the returning Ash Taylor who "beautifully" slotted home from close range. Andy Shore and Josh Fyson sharing man of the match.
Sutton's poor first half cost them. They need to make sure they start a game the way they finish in the run up to Christmas as they would be a force to reckon with if they did.
