Once again these two teams produced a fine game of hockey as the first half the season came to an end. Both teams started at a high tempo and Sutton created the early chances. Letchworth began to take more control and apply some pressure to Sutton. The deadlock was broken as the ball unfortunately fell to a Letchworth forward after a fine save from Cliff and he made no mistake. Sutton still created chances after some tireless running from Sisson and solid tackles from Taylor in the middle. Sutton felt hard done by as Letchworth were awarded a penalty corner which lead them doubling their score. Sutton rallied and managed to reduce the visitors lead through a strike from Allen. 2-1 halftime. Sutton started the second half slowly as Letchworth dominated and created some good chances but Cliff was in fine form even using his helmet to thwart Letchworths advances. Despite this Letchworth added a third but this kicked Sutton into life and they dominated from here on in. Andy Shore, Harrison and Taylor bossed the middle, and some great running from Ben Shore opened up the Letchworth defence. Sutton reduced Letchworths lead as Andy Shore played a lethal ball into the D for Taylor to beautifully deflect into the goal. Sutton were rampant as Letchworth went down to 10 and should have equalised but just couldn't find the clinical touch. Letchworth held onto to the win and will feel lucky as Sutton deserved a share of the spoils.
