Cambridge started the brighter on Saturday, keeping the ball well and moving it with speed although they didn't threaten the Sutton goal. Sutton came in to the game and started finding their slick hockey and it was no suprise when some excellent work from Hardy allowed Cook to deflect the ball into the goal at the far post. The game was flowing, full of energy and pace but it was Sutton who always seemed the more dangerous. Sutton created some wonderful chances which they couldn't quite convert. Fyson then sent over the most delicious aerial for Sisson who burst onto it as it entered the D and after one bounce smashed it past the oncoming keeper to make it 2-0 at HT although it should have been more.

The second half saw Cambridge up their level and their supreme fitness started to show, Sutton were struggling to find their best hockey but defended well as unit. Sutton gifted Cambridge a way back as a bad challenge gave them a penalty flick which they converted. Sutton tired and Cambridge soon equalised. This woke Sutton up and they came back again and created good chances to kill the game off. Fyson then again slung a viscious aerial over the top and again Sisson did well to get onto it, drew the keeper and smashed home on his reverse to put Sutton in the lead. As the final few seconds ticked down Cambridge got a penalty corner and after the initial weak shot took two deflections it hit Harrison on the head who was unfortunately in the goal. Cambridge converted their second penalty stroke with the last touch of the game to make it 3-3.

Sutton again played some lovely hockey at times but also showed grit and determination as a team when they needed to. They had the chances to kill off a fit, hard working university team but couldn't quite find the killer edge however the spectators were treated to a good game played in the right way.
