MATCH REPORT
LSHC Mens' Second v City of Peterborough 7ths
Played Home on 13th October 2012Sutton put on a spirited winning display for the home supporters but almost threw the points away following a determined fight back by a well drilled Peterborough team. Sutton took the initiative early on with wave after wave of attack with the strike partnership of Luke 'The Only Way is Essex' Lovegrove and Stefan 'The Hobbit' Fox stretching the Peterborough defence. Suttons front line then began to win short corners, the first of which was ably put away by Man of the Match and 'Chuckle Brother' impersonator Jeremy Watt. Sutton continued to press and following another short corner Watt found Nick 'Kojak' Bailey who deflected the ball into an empty net. The second half continued as the first but Peterborough began to fight hard and pulled a goal back following an error by Suttons defence. Peterborough continued to force the play and were awarded a short corner which was smartly roofed in the top corner. The game become stretched and both teams
created chance after chance but with 10 minutes to go Sutton put away what was to be the winning goal. Following a smart run from defensive stalwart Adam 'Tinker' Taylor who was able to find Lovegrove who put across a controlled lifted ball at pace which met Bailey who was able to guide it into the roof of the net. Captain Matt 'Tin Tin' Holmes was quick to praise the team and the hard work they had put in against a very good Peterborough team.
