Long Sutton kept pressure on the league leaders with a commanding display at City of Peterborough 6ths.  Both teams battled hard, playing some good hockey and it was Sutton who found themselves a goal down at a short corner following some initial good work by James Cliff in goal.  Long Sutton kept their heads and raised their game with good work from all of the midfield players.  It wasn't long before Nick Bailey found himself attacking the Peterborough defence and unleashing a reverse stick shot which went in off the post leaving the keeper with no chance.  Within a minute following sloppy play by Peterborough, Jeremy Watt was able to find Bailey again who doubled his tally and put Sutton in front.  Sutton continued work well up front with George Dixon-Spain (GDS), Gary Hales and  Bailey combining in tandem.  Just before half time, Hales found GDS who was narrowly thwarted by an excellent save by
the Peterborough keeper.  The second half continued for Sutton as it had finished with relentless attacking.  Both Hales and GDS once again coming close.  Mid-way through the half Sutton won a short corner, which Watt was able to find Bailey to complete another hat-trick.  With 10 minutes to go following good work at the back from Matt Holmes and Man of the Match Simon Clarke, Watt found Bailey who put Hales through one on one with the keeper, which he cooly despatched to finish the game off in style.  With one game to go before Christmas Sutton hope to go into the break full of festive cheer!  Captain Matt Holmes commented 'That was our best display so far of the season.  I was so proud of the 2nd teams ETHOS of playing good hockey for each other.  I hope the club are as proud of the teams achievement as I am'.
