Long Sutton 2nds returned to action after over 6 weeks of waiting to get back on the pitch but when they did they continued as left off with a resounding win against a disciplined Peterborough side.

It was the home side who took the lead following some naive defending at the back. This sparked Sutton into life and they were soon level from a short corner which was neatly despatched by Ben Shore. Sutton continued to press and wasn't long before Nick Bailey, Dan Batten and Luke Lovegrove got in on the act, pick of which was a great driving run from Batten who delivered an unstoppable shot into the corner. Just before half time the skilful Peterborough forward was able to reduce the arears to 4-2. In the second half Peterborough pushed on to get back on terms but with the defence now standing firm with man of match Michael Carter being the stand out player, Sutton were able to exploit the space and it wasn't long before both Shore and Bailey were able to complete their hat tricks. Sutton continued to press but were less than clinical with there finishing. Captain Matt Holmes commented that he was happy with the teams performance after such a long lay off but warned the team against complacency as they head into the business end of the season.
