Suttons 2nd XI hosted Bourne Deeping 2nd XI this week. The Dragons were the team last season that took the title race for 4nw with Sutton down to the penultimate game of the season where Sutton clinched the title with a 6-1 victory with a game in hand.

After a couple of sloppy defeats in past weeks and some lessons learnt Sutton came out at a different tempo with a revised formation and the defence reinforced with the return of Simon Clarke, it wasn't long before a short corner awarded to Sutton was dutifully drilled into the bottom corner of Bourne Deepings goal by Watt, Sutton continued to press but the Dragons came back at Sutton, and with some good play found themselves in Suttons 'D' the first shot reflex stopped at waist height by Suttons skipper Holmes only to fall to the stick of the pressing Dragons captain who had little to do to beat Cliff at close range taking the score to all even at half time 1-1.

Sutton came into the second half upping the tempo again and dominating the game, pressing the Dragons deep in to their own half, it was only a matter of time before Shore would dispatch the ball into the goal giving Sutton the lead, the Dragons were now under pressure. With some excellent team work Sutton took the ball to from end to end in 3 passes finding Mallett on the edge of the dragons 'D' who drove home a powerful open stick shot past the keeper with ease, 3-1 Sutton. The dragons fire was firmly extinguished when a excellent shot from returning to form Shore was half stopped by Dragons keeper only to see Canham instinctively swoop in for a poachers goal saving the keeper from OG being recorded on the team sheet. A big improvement on past weeks games notable performances from Wiles, Mallet, Fox and Clarke, with again another defender for the 2nd week taking MOTM, this week Ross Gavaghan.
