Sutton s men's 2s travelled to St Neots to play the Saints 1sts in the last game before the Xmas break, their earlier last meeting at the start of the season had seen Sutton take the 3 points with a 2-0 victory. Sutton started strong and took charge of the game. Good team work won Sutton a short corner that Shore dispatched after Watt slipped to him. This was to repeat itself 10 minutes later and the result was now 2-0 to Sutton, Shore and Watt linking once again to add another goal to the score sheet for Shore. Sutton came off the throttle and lost a little composure gifting Saints a goal before the break 2-1 to Sutton at half time.

Saints came at Sutton hard in the second half, pressing deep into Suttons half creating numerous chances that keeper Cliff, and defenders Gray, Holmes, Gavaghan and Taylor kept out. Eventually, it was a short corner that Saints converted to take it to 2-2 in the last 10 mins, Sutton had plenty of fight left but Saints wouldn't roll over and both teams were attacking well, but the score remained 2-2 due to some fantastic defending by both sides. A draw the final result leaving Sutton 5th in the table and 5 points of 4th going into the Xmas break, an excellent first half of the season for a newly promoted team.
