This first game of the weekend end up in in 2-2 draw against a spirited St Ives side who adapted better to the weather conditions.

Playing with the wind in the first half, an under strength Sutton were slow out of the blocks and could not complain when they fell behind after a Cliff save was reacted to first by the St Ives forwards. Donaghy in defence and Esse worked hard to raise the team but there remained little cohesion from front to back and whilst Esse did equalise from a well taken goal after fine work by Wiles, it was no surprise when St Ives retook the lead after once again reacting quicker to a rebound. Half time came and it was 2-1, the size of the deficit being kept small by the excellent Cliff in goal.

Second half, playing into the wind Sutton raised their game. Esse controlled the midfield, Fox marshalled the defence, White and Wiles ran the flanks and the forwards provided more movement. It was no surprise when a well worked piece of passing play resulted in Wiles serving up the ball for Ben Shore to equalise. Sutton pushed on, but dogged St Ives defence along with the game being broken up due to a number of injury stoppages meant that the momentum never really reached the times usual high standard.

A fair result in the end and another point in what is turning into an excellent post promotion season for this young second team.
