Sutton 3rds travelled to Spalding with a young side but confident after a run of good results.

This confidence was evident from the start with Sutton taking the game to Spalding and on two minutes George Dixon-Spain chiseled out a pass to Matt King, who drilled it into Alex Canham, who then deflected onto the post and followed up to give Sutton the lead. Spalding battled well but struggled to make headway against a well drilled Sutton team, with Dixon-Spain, James Slator and King particularily impressive. Sutton found more space as the half went on and  Player of the Match Canham added his and Suttons second from an angled deflection following excellent work by Jack Smith on the right wing.

Spalding started the second half well and carved out a couple of half chances but Slator, Worth, Maris and Gray defended well before they reduced the deficit with an unorthodox looping finish that left Suttons keeper no chance. Sutton then pushed on to try, with Cousins particularly giving everything, and make the game safe, they created chances to put the game out of sight but White, Smith and Canham were unlucky not to add to the tally. Eventually Dixon-Spain carved out a run and finished with a great shot to restore the two goal cushion.

A good local derby, played in the right spirit with positives to be taken for both teams.
