Sutton travelled to Horncastle for a top of the table clash with a strong side and were met by an equally robust Horncastle team.

Sutton started well and controlled the game for long periods, with Keeper Albert Slator and Matt King particularily dominant in defence. It was therefore against the run of play when Horncastle took the lead, however Sutton continued to play their pressing game with Grange and Gray working well to nullify Horncastles strong running midfielder and it was no surprise when Fox equalised after good work by Ed White and Jamie Slator.

Sutton continued to press and just before half time took the lead through a fine finish from Ed White. Early in the second half it was no more than Sutton deserved when Man of the Match White struck an even better finish for his 2nd and Sutton's 3rd. Sutton continued to control the game but following a brief lack of defensive discipline Horncastle showed the danger they possessed by pulling the score back to 3-2. Sutton refocused and after a catalogue of missed chances in front of goal, Lovegrove dispatched a penalty flick eventually given for a foot in front of goal to make the score 4-2; a more fitting scoreline following an excellent all round team performance from the Sutton 3rds, which consolidates their 2nd place in the league.
