With three 13-year-old youngsters making their full league debuts, Sutton took the game to their hosts early and jumped into a two goal lead. Peterborough fielded a young side too, with veteran former Sutton player Simon Richardson keeping them on the straight and narrow. Sutton's first came when Adam Sisson crossed from the left for Ian White to slot home and then Kane Portass scored what will surely be the first of many league goals for him as he calmly slipped the ball past an advancing keeper. The other debutants, Harry Synnott and Will White both had terrific games and Dan Oldfield gave a barnstorming performance from the right of the defence. In the second half the home side's squad depth gave them an advantage and as Sutton unfortunately finished the match with ten players when Kieran Forrest fell ill, Peterborough equalised to share the points and make it a fair result in this Div 6NW (N) opener.
