An improved second half display saw Sutton do well to restrict the visitors in a game that could have got away from them. Sutton's young players acquitted themselves well, with Kane Portass and Will White resuming their fluent attacking down the right wing and Harry Synnott and Kieran Forrest attempting the same on the left. James Baker provided a few hairy moments for the visitors' defence, and despite a few close shaves, Sutton failed to convert any of their short corners. Spalding scored three times in the first half, including a penalty stroke, but after the interval could only add another one thanks to some excellent marking by Dan Oldfield and Lewis Shooter and some quality saves from Joss Calderbank.

Now that the halfway point of the league campaign has been reached, the fourths have seen all that this division has to offer and will be looking to build on their experience and improve performances for the return fixtures, when hopefully they can get some results to match their enterprising play.
