Long Sutton defied numerical odds and celestial fury to grab a point at Grantham. Starting the match with two men short, they conceded an early goal, but great defending from Lewis Shooter, Jeremy Smith and Stephen Milnes allowed them to keep within touching distance of the home side until Ben Shore 's mad dash up the A1 brought their numbers up to ten with 25 minutes gone. When Will White's goal bound shot was stopped by a foot on the line, Shore stepped up to despatch the penalty stroke. The self-styled "goal-machine" notched a second with a smart drag flick after pressure from Kieran Forrest and Kane Portass had resulted in a penalty corner. Grantham equalised late on, but not even a suspension in play due to hail, rain, wind, thunder and lightning of apocalyptic scale could prevent the 4ths from taking a share of the spoils.

The pleasure at gaining a draw with ten players is always tempered by the knowledge that with a full squad it should have been three points, but the improvement of the junior players is now undeniable, especially on this occasion Lewis Shooter, who revealed some great (and hitherto unsuspected) dribbling ability in a man of the match performance.
