Spalding 2nd Team 3 - The Nerd Herd 2

Night 2 started with a well fought game between two evenly matched teams. Spalding edged ahead in the first half after some 'interesting' defending and were 2-0 up at the interval. The Nerds changed it a round a little in the second half and this paid dividends with Gary Hales and Danny Batten levelling the game. As the players tired the game swung end to end and it was an own goal that sealed it with the Nerds Keeper, Josh Thody finishing with his head after his own fine glovework! The Nerds worked hard against a strong Spalding team with Featherstone, Tanya White and the returning Stu Belding deserving particular praise.

Wisbech 1st Team 3 - Sutton Sabres 1

Wisbech started strongly and soon went into a 2-0 lead before half time. The Sabres worked well and were not over run by the strength of the Wisbech team and it was well deserved when good work by Emma Howell resulted in 'Goal-Machine' Becky Kierman scoring with a delicate finish over the Wisbech keeper Shepherd. Wisbech reacted to this well and went about looking to expand their lead further but were thwarted by a strong Sabres defensive unit, with Lorraine Wallis in goal and Lisa Baker at centre back performing very well. The Sabres used pace to counter attack and had chances to draw level but in the end a short corner finish with the last hit of the game gave the scoreline a comfortable feel.
