Wisbech 1st Team 2 v The Nerds 0
Wisbech brought a strong team to this fixture and whilst the Nerds fought well the greater strength of the their team won out. The Nerds worked hard and kept the score goalless at half time. It was early in the second half that Wisbech began to impose their strength and it was no surprise when they took the lead, a lead they added to with a fine individual goal. Whilst defeated there were a number of good performances on the Nerd side, Taylor and Featherstone were solid as ever and Tanya White worked well, whilst Son No.2 Will was fearless in attack! The Nerds remain pointless, but are by no means out of what looks to be a close group.
Spalding 2nd Team 1 v The Sabres 3
The Sabres opened their account with a win against a good Spalding side. With excellent work again by the ladies in the side, the team started well and after good work from Lisa Baker Connor Allen opened the scoring. Becky Kierman added a 2nd with what can only be described as the goal of the tournament so far a stunning finish against a good Spalding keeper. Spalding fought back and pulled a goal back through Annie Dalton with a fine predators finish at the back post. The game continued to flow in the 2nd half and it was the Sabres who added a third with a good solo finish from Allen for his 2nd. All in all an excellent game of hockey from two good teams played in a good spirit.
