Wisbech 1st Team 1 v Spalding 1st Team 4

The play off for 7th/8th was a well contested affair with the Spalding team looking slightly stronger. This manifested itself in a first half that ended with Spalding leading 3-0 following goals from Mike Morris and Pete Wright (2). The quality on the pitch was excellent with the Dalton girls working well for Spalding and Lisa Williamson tirelessly running for Wisbech. Wisbech started the second half stronger and pulled a goal back after some fine work from their ladies; Spalding were unnerved though and it was no surprise when Morris scored his second to leave the match ending 4-1 and ensuring Spalding did not finish bottom.

Spalding 2nd Team 1 v Petes Presidential Picks 2

The Pressies defied the odds again and won this well fought game 2-1 against a strong Spalding side. Spalding started the game better and but for excellent defending from keeper Lorraine Wallis and the Pressies Man of The League, Jason Mallett would have taken the lead. Sam Carr, Helen Worth and Adam Taylor worked tirelessly again and ably supported by Laura Temple, Hannah Greenacre and Rhian Goodge The Pressies gained a foothold in the game. Meanwhile Spalding continued to create chances through Cunnington, Watts and Rowbottom. Pressies built well and after good work by Bailey, Adam Wiles finished past the Spalding keeper Price to take a lead into half time. The second half started closer and the Pressies had other chances to score, with young Carr and Kierman going close before Canham made it 2-0 with a deft chip over the keeper into the Spalding net following good work from Wiles. Spalding then applied pressure and pulled one back with a great finish, however the Pressies held on to seal 5th place in the League.
