A very good Harleston side travelled to Long Sutton today to play in the mixed cup 2nd round.

The visitors started off the brightest with some very good attacking moves but it was Sutton that probably could have opened the scoring through some good link up play leading to Sisson picking the ball up and striking it on his reverse only to end up hitting Lisa Baker on the head, who barely flinched at the hit.  The defensive work from the Sutton team was very well organised although Harleston were soon rewarded from their attacks through Martin Fields.  Unfortunately for the Sutton side, Harleston then started to find their feet on the attacks and swiftly picked up three more goals through Richard Larkin, another from Martin Fields and the fourth from Lucy Whiting.  Sutton were down 4-0 in 18 minutes, but weren't giving up, a quick change in formation and a shuffle of players and the side started to play a bit more as a team and found a bit of form in defence, which helped them see out the half without conceding again.
4-0 half time.
Sutton came out after half time with some really good attacking play and looked quite dangerous when travelling down the wings, with some good work from Fred Whatling and Dan Batten down the right, tireless work from Charles Hardy and Louise Southgate in the middle and Fiona Gray down the left.  The defence was put under some pressure again but Ashley Taylor, Tanya White, Jimmy Harrison and Jess Hudson denied Harleston the break at goal.  Unfortunately Harleston managed to add to the scoring through Martin Fields, completing his hat trick.  Although Sutton responded well again down the wings, with Danny Sisson running down the left and crossing to Lisa Baker on his reverse who couldn't get the ball past the Harleston keeper but it fell to Charlie Leuty who slipped it through the keepers legs.  Some great work from the Sutton side just wasn't enough as harleston the picked up three more goals through Lucy Whiting, Lizzie Clymer and another from Martin Fields.  Great work from Luke Lovegrove in the goal just wasn't enough for some good finishes from harleston.

Some great work from all players and excellent work rate from all just wasn't enough for the side today, but a great performance from Sutton that the scoreline did not reflect.
