Long Sutton ladies 1st XI travelled to St Neots for their first away game of the season without Our consistent rock Tania White due to injury! This meant that a change of personnel at the back was forced!

Long Sutton started brightly maintaining good possession and passing the ball well around the back however having little luck penetrating anything going forward! St Neots did start to look dangerous going forward and after a couple of opportunities saw them capitalise through a short corner that caught the defence of guard and not all of them ready behind the line!

Following this the game looked as though there was a possibility of it staying this way as although everyone's work rate was second to none Sutton didn't manage to create anything! Half time arrived and was very much needed to allow Sutton to change their formation and style of play!

The second half started extremely brightly and now playing with only 3 at the back Gemma Parr, Rachael Gadsden and Jess Hudson were extremely disciplined not allowing St Neots to break through! Continued hard work in the middle of the pitch from Sarah Walker and Charlie Leuty saw the attack finally be awarded a short corner which was taken well with a pass from the top by Leanne Woodhead to Fiona Gray who drove the ball across the D to get a deflection from a well placed Hannah Greenacre! Finally Sutton had broken through and got a well deserved equaliser!

Sutton continued very much on the front foot and after a run from Walker through the middle that saw her use her strength and skill to beat the opposing player she picked out a perfect pass to Louise Southgate on the right. Driving down the right she picked out a great ball to Woodhead who flicked it on for Lisa Baker to comfortably put the ball in the back of the net!

With time running down and St Neots pushing for an equaliser gave an opportunity for Sutton to break down the left with Baker finding Becky Kierman this time for her to flick it on to Woodhead who managed to calmly flick it past the keeper and claim the 3 points!

An outstanding performance by the Sutton ladies and a well deserved 3 points to take in to next weeks home game against Alford!
