Long Sutton Ladies 1's sponsored by Jack Buck Farms made the familiar trip to Watton for their first preseason friendly. As is usual for this fixture it was warm. Watton started brightly being more used to their sand based pitch and whilst Sutton were trying to do the right thing playing neat triangles, they were just not putting enough on the ball and Watton were able to intercept. The defensive trio of Gemma Parr, Tania White and Lisa Baker were imperious as they snuffed out the attacks. Sutton began to find their feet and some great work down the left by Amelia Norey saw the ball played into Hannah Baker who smashed the ball past the young Watton keeper. 1-0 Sutton. Nat frost was everywhere reading the game well to ensure that Watton were not able to penetrate into the heart of Suttons defence. Milly and Pippa Hastings worked well down the right with Amber Jones and it wasn't long before Hannah Baker made it two, after some more meat work by Norey and Kate Tillbroook.

Watton were able to cut the deficit with GK Wallis unable to cut out a neat reverse stick shot from the top right of the D, which took a lucky deflection before it found the back of the net. Sutton dominated the second half other than the first few minutes of pressure and Hannah Baker completed her hat-trick putting the finish on a really well worked team move. Sutton's game management was excellent and saw them run out comfortable winners.

POTM went to Nat who had a phenomenal game in midfield, reading the game so well and breaking down many Watton attacks

Onto league action next week with an away trip to Bourne Deeping.
