A trip to Glinton for the first league game of the season against Bourne Deeping who had just missed out on Promotion last year. Sutton had a strong squad but came up against a young opposition who showed their attacking intent from the off. Sutton were unable to retain possession and the back 4 of Baker Parr Jones and Dack were being tested, however held firm with Wallis ready when called upon.

The midfield of Norey Frost Perowne and Hastings(p) worked hard to try to take the game to Bourne and were starting to find the forwards of Baker and Hastings (m). Still Bourne attacked and in the heat the full squad of Sutton were needed with White restored to the back line and Hales showing her versatility. Suttons defence repelled all that Bourne could throw at them until they failed to deal with a high ball in the D pounced upon by a Bourne forward to put them 1-0 up. Sutton responded well and when they played quick passes found that they were able to move up the pitch. Baker was very unlucky not to restore parity after a super solo run but saw the ball just run off the back line before she could apply the finish. HT 1-0 down

The second half was much the same with Bourne having the majority of the possession. They found themselves 2-0 up midway through the half after a half clearance by Wallis fell to a forward rather than a defender.

Sutton continued to battle hard and they set up a tense finish following a super move involving Perowne and Hastings (m) which saw the ball with Baker who made no mistake this time finishing with aplomb. This gave Sutton some real belief but had came a little too late in the game to affect the result. POTM went to Amber Jones.
