The first game of the season welcomes back Lexi Clarke and Wendy Canham after injury last season and Jayme Hunt to the team. With last minute change of keepers with Ellie Sandall taken ill Chantil Sinclair dusted off her keepers kit. Pelicans had first push back and with several short corners in the first ten minutes the pressure was on the defence and it wasn't long before they scored.

The play was from end to end with midfield of Aimee Betts, Katie Whittaker and Lillie Tegerdine moving the ball up the pitch to Annabelle with her fast pace, Wendy Canham and Alison Whittaker making great space to receive the ball. With fresh legs Holly Murdoch came on in defence.

Lexi Clarke made great runs up the line but we could still not get through the Pelicans defence. With only minutes left before half time Pelicans got through the defence and scored. Second half we pressed up the pitch Aimee with a great run into the D creating a short corner unfortunately no one could get on the end of it.

Keeper Chantil Sinclair and her defence of Julie Warby, Sarah Skate, Jayme Hunt, Holly Murdoch and Lexi Clarke worked together defending the goal but being faced with lots of defensive short corners Pelicans started to get through and scored another three goals.

The results did not reflect how everyone played today, we will go again next week. Well done ladies. POTM Lexi Clarke
