Away vs Cambs City 4s 21/09/24 First games of the season don't come much tougher than this for LSHC Mens 2s. Travelling away with a bare 11 to a strong Cambridge City team with an abundance of pace, skill and ability. Sutton were definitely up against it for the first portion of the game; unable to make it out of their own half as wave after wave of well-worked, speedy offence eventually led to two quick goals, both coming from penalty corners. After that lethargic and costly start to the game, Sutton really dug in and were on the attack and barraged the Cambridge side with a flurry of short corners that unfortunately didn't yield any goals. The Sutton side persevered, and with a solid team performance and some amazing individual displays, they found themselves level at 2-2 with a tidy finish from Alex Canham and a well-worked penalty corner goal from Luke Jackson. With two minutes left of the clock, Sutton were naturally flagging and suffering in the heat. The Cambridge side managed to get a penalty corner which subsequently led to a penalty flick, which was dispatched after a valiant attempt from keeper Dan Plant. Despite the brutal end to the game for Sutton, there were a lot of positives to be taken; including a superb midfield performance from Eddie Hales.
