The above photo just about sums up how we feel looking at this weekend’s result
Right, let’s make this one quick shall we…
Sutton headed to Wisbech this weekend. A fixtures with tales as old as time. All of which anger Jim to a point of which he simply must go to bed for the sake of the safety of everyone around. 17 years it had been since we last won at this god forsaken place, and unfortunately upon the full time whistle it became 18
We began the game… well, to put it lightly… pretty poor. However, this isn’t new to us and we didn’t show to many signs of concern. Wisbech had the lion share of the ball but troubled little in front of goal. Forward forays for the likes of JB and Mac only resulted in wide misses. Wisbech scored first with a tidy deflection to which Sutton actually responded to relatively quickly. A long chuck from JB found the running Mac who managed to finish well on the back hand. Not long after JB got on the end of a ball from Batten, cut inside, back outside and finished with a crack on the forehand to the bottom corner
HT 2-1 Greens. This seems like a good position but really we knew this should’ve been a whole lot better. Nevertheless, a lead is a lead and something to build from positively… or so we thought…
The second half was one to forget. It’s best not even summarising as I know nobody will want to read. I can actually hear Jim chuntering right now! Wisbech manage to score 2 in the second half and us… well… 0
FT 3-2 Wisbech
That report seems quite frankly pretty poor but it sums up the game. Maybe I’m harsh but I know the lads won’t think so. As said after the game, we’re tight knit enough to express that fact and accept it… and move on from it. And that we did. What followed was a fine session for the ages and proved to everyone what a hell of a squad we still are. Win lose or draw!
POTM was Piggers who was the only person who didn’t really do anything wrong.
DOTD was Jim. Angry man. JB wasn’t angry enough so just about escaped despite forgetting the chicken hat
