Mixed vs Lindum

Mixed team claim first win of the season!

The mixed side travelled to Lindum in the T3 mixed comp and now know only winning will keep them in any form of competition. Lindum started quickly but the experienced defence of Lukey P, Dano, Mikey, JB and Clarkey were relatively untroubled. JB would play one of his first passes of the game with a long, backhand ball high up to the skipper HB who could then calmy square to MilDog to deflect home. It wouldn't be long until we witnessed Planty's hockey peak as he performed a backwards, overhead, 180 no-scope, backhand slam over the shoulder into the net of the Lindum goal with the keeper left begging for mercy on his knees after witnessing such greatness in front of him. The keeper later returned to carve out the square of astro Planty had scored from and sasked him to sign it for his bedroom wall. Planty's hockey greatness was then followed by incredibly below-average hockey by some others. Lukey P left several balls through his legs as he felt bad for the home side, JB was aroused by the Lindum coach so much so he passed him the ball on more than one occasion and Dano had his knee popped by 2 mph winds. It was a good job players like Anabelle were around to show us how its done as she stepped up to add the greens third. HT 3-0

Remarks of 'see what happens when Mac doesn't play' were heard from several of the members of the team at half time and who could argue with them?

The second half was much the same just with less goals. The effort levels of the back line clearly decreasing as they simply couldn't be bothered anymore with Pig saving most things anyway. Martha The Explorer explored every inch of the left sideline in the second half being played bad pass after bad pass by the defence. They apologised and said they wouldn't do it again... they did it again. JB decided to go on a dribble, found Planty (who succumbed to the plead of the Lindum keeper not to embarrass him again) who squared to the skipper for the fourth. The horrible part of the game was the part where we conceded after Pig was sat on by an opposing player. We will be working hard in training to prevent this going forward. Conceding simply isn't good enough. Our expectations are higher in the post-Mac era. FT 4-1

Into the hat we go for the second round. Some hope for a nice midday Sunday tie... others fancy a trip to Winchester on a minibus to visit The Royal Oak. Next fixture is due to be the 232rd of Feb (because cup comps take priority) but if the opposition are nice, it'll be the 2nd of March...

Ciao x
