Sutton's good run of form continued on Saturday with a superb team display of disciplined, attacking hockey giving their survival chances a bigger boost. Sutton started attacking from the first whistle playing some lovely hockey creating some great opportunities within the first few minutes. Danny Sisson broke the deadlock as he raced forward one on one with the keeper, kept his nerve superbly as he rounded him and smashed home. Colchester had little to offer going forward as they were halted by Ash Taylor who was in sublime form. The only chance they had was a short corner which Harrison tipped over the bar as it was heading into the top corner. Sutton continued to attack and created chance after chance. Featherstone then fed Sisson who launched a thunderbolt from his reverse stick scorching the net to make it 2-0 half time.
After the break Colchester came at Sutton and kept the ball for a 5 minute period although never really threatened the Sutton goal as their defence was solid. Sutton soon started playing their lovely hockey again with Ellis and Allen getting forward well. Fyson continued his rich vein of form as he received the ball in the D, completely skinned the keeper sending him on his backside and coolly slotting home to make it 3. Sutton were not done yet as Allen made it 4 when Ellis picked him out at the back of the D where he unleashed a thunderbolt of his own into the top corner. Sutton finished on a high as Sisson deservedly netted his hat-trick and sealed a important win after an absolutely fantastic team display.
