Discipline and composure were the key in this opening Division 4NW game against a March team who were only able to field 10 men. From the start Sutton took control with Jeremy Watt continuing where he left off last season with a commanding display in the holding role in midfield. He was ably supported by another senior member of the team Nick Bailey who was stepping into a new role by dropping into midfield. It wasn't long before Sutton were on the sheet and this was in no small part down to the games Man of the Match Stefan Fox whose tireless running caused the March defence problem after problem and aided in the opening goal from Adam Wiles. Sutton went into half time 5 nil up after goals from Fox, Bailey, Jason Mallett and Watt. The second half continued as the first did with a further 5 goals coming from Watt, Matt Grange, Luke Lovegrove and Bailey claiming a further 2 to get his hat-trick. Following a great team performance captain Matt Holmes was resolute in his appraisal of the team. "Though we knew that they had only 10 men it was important for us to ignore that and complete the job playing attractive, disciplined hockey which I think we did. My hat's off to the team they did the club proud!"
