Sutton moved up to 2nd place after a well fought victory over a young Spalding side.

Whilst having the lions share of the possession, Sutton struggled to carve out opportunities in the final third thanks in the main to the excellent organisation of the Spalding side, where Sutton did get through the Spalding keeper was equal to most that was thrown at him.

Eventually the pressure told and Scott Ingram scored after some good work by the Sutton forwards and just before half time Edmund White added a 2nd after a fine individual run.

Whilst more goals were expected in the 2nd half none came, partly because Spalding remained well drilled in defence and partly due to a drop in Sutton's performance.

A satisfactory win, which was never in doubt really due to more excellent defensive work by Dave Maris, Nick Worth and man of the match Simon Clarke. A good game that both sides can take positives from.
