In a day of local derbies, Sutton hosted a young Spalding side who battled well under the leadership of Sutton Old Boy Ed Sly.

Sutton never really found top gear, though Gray and Man of the Match King both continued their recent run of good form. Indeed King opened the scoring finishing off a well worked White/Canham short corner routine. Sutton then made it 2 before half time with an own goal after a ball in from White looped over the keeper off of a defenders foot.

Simpson and Maris nullified any threat Spalding may have had and it was no surprise when Canham shot home a third for Sutton in the second half and indeed were unlucky not to get a fourth when King finished another short corner only for it to be disallowed for an infringement; Spalding did rally towards the end and a couple of fantastic saves from Albert Slator in the Sutton goal ensured his clean sheet, whilst the Spalding keeper also saved well to keep the score to only three after shots from Wiles and Canham.
